My Gran gave me this photo a couple years ago and I found it the other day. This was first year on skis at the River Ridge Ski Club in Fort Saskatchewan, Albert AKA "the bump". It was loacted on the riverbank with the majestic backdrop of Sherritt Gordon Chemical Plant. The Company had helped with donating the land, some basic machinary and the local workers volunteered to help build the hill back in 1970.
I have some very basic memories from my first year of skiing. Supposbily I was a bit crier when I first started out and my sisters soon got fed up trying to teach me how to ski and soon ditching me. Fair enough, luckily my sisters friend Hayley had enough patience and managed to teach me teach me the very basics. I spent pretty much every weekend in the winter afterwards at the bump.
